Frequently Asked Questions
Got questions? We have answers. If you need more details, feel free to give us a call.
How long is a Roadworthy Certificate valid for in Victoria?
A Roadworthy Certificate (RWC) is valid for 30 days from the date of issue. The vehicle sale or transfer of registration must be submitted to VicRoads within this period.
What happens if my vehicle fails the roadworthy inspection?
If the vehicle fails, we will provide a rejection report outlining the items that need repair. You have 7 days to rectify these issues and bring the vehicle back for a free re-inspection of those items.
Does a roadworthy certificate check cover mechanical reliability?
No, a roadworthy inspection only checks key safety items (brakes, steering, suspension, tyres, lights, seatbelts, etc.) to ensure the vehicle is safe to drive on public roads. It is not a guarantee of the engine's mechanical reliability.
